Hello, I'm new to the app, and I also am off the pill for the first time in years. Because of that, I'm not familiar with what my regular cycle is like. Would you recommend I start my cycles in this app automatically or manually? And if I mainly want to track my period, as well as get in touch with how to track FAM for myself, are there any suggestions on how I should use this app for best results?

    Hi Sabrinamargarita,

Thanks for writing us!  And welcome to Kindara :)

It won't make much of a difference which setting you use - it's really just a personal preference of whether you'd like Kindara to automatically start a new cycle when you enter menstruation data or if you'd like to manually decide when your cycles start.

Some women prefer the manual option because they want to mark bleeding in the middle of their cycles and they don't want Kindara to start a new cycle, or they simply want to mark a new cycle even though they haven't had a period.  The reasons may vary from woman to woman, and some women may have no use for the manual option.  We just wanted to give women this option of flexibility and control over their charting.

As for getting started with FAM, I'd highly recommend reading some more of the articles in this knowledge base and getting used to tracking your fertility signs every day with the app.  Before you know it, charting will become second nature to you :)

I hope this answers your questions!

    Hey kamo,

When you enter the first day of your last period, the app automatically enters three days of menstruation starting on that date. If your period is longer than 3 days, go to the data screen for the 4th day after the first day of your last period, scroll down to where it says "Menstruation" and select the quantity of menstrual blood you observed that day (light, medium, or heavy). Then, do this for every day thereafter that you had your period. After you stop entering menstruation data in the app, the app will automatically know your period ended.

If you need help getting to the correct day, there are three ways to do this.

    1) Tap the day you want to edit in the Calendar view.

    2) Swipe horizontally between days in the Data screen.

    3) Tap and hold any day in the Chart Screen to get a popup of that day's data. You can then tap the Edit button on the popup. This will bring you to the Data Screen for that particular day, and you can select or un-select any data you like.

    Hope this helps :)

    Hi there,

I'm trying to change the setting from automatic to manual as outlined above, but I have no "more" option on the settings page - only your logo where it should be. Is there a way to make this option appear?

    Cheers

    Hi jonojaime,

I'm so sorry about this!  It looks like you're using Kindara on an Android device - is that right?  If so, please follow these steps instead:

    1) In the upper-left corner of the app, you'll see the Kindara logo and three horizontal bars.  Tap these horizontal bars to open up the 'More' menu.

    2) On this menu, you'll see a row that says Settings (it also has a gear icon).  Tap this row.

    3) Under the section labeled "Preferences," you'll find a row that says "Automatic Cycle Start."  Un-check the checkbox on the right side of this row to turn on manual cycle start mode.

Sorry about the confusion!  I hope this is helpful :)  Please let us know if you need any more help!

Hi! I am trying to change my cycle from 31 days to 28. It seems I miscalculated and the app is predicting my next period at the incorrect dates. I can't find where to do this and since this is my first cycle of charting I am a bit confused.

    Any help would be great!

    Hi Lyssoughtred,

Thanks for contacting us! It's easy to miss this since it requires logging onto the web portal :) You can change your average cycle length during the first three cycles that you use Kindara by logging into the user web portal (http://app.kindara.com/) with the email and password you used to create your Kindara account, going to the 'Account' tab, and clicking the 'edit details' button at the bottom of the page. From there, you will be able to change your average cycle length. After you've entered at least three cycles with Kindara, the app will calculate your average cycle length based on the data you've entered, so it will be more accurate the more you use it.

Hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any more questions :)

    Hello

How do I start a new chart? I'm on my second chart but don't know how to start a new one.

  • Avatar
    Lauren

Hi vgarcia, you can start a new chart simply by tapping any amount of menstruation (light, medium, heavy) on the first day of your period.  Kindara will automatically start a new chart for you.

Alternatively, you can switch the app into manual cycle start mode (to switch your app into manual mode, tap More, then Settings, then Start New Cycles Manually).  If you have this option enabled, you'll see a "Start New Cycle Today?" button underneath the menstruation section of the data screen.  Simply tap that button to start a new chart.  Hope that helps!

If my period starts in the evening do i mark that as my day 1 or mark the next day as day 1?

  • Avatar
    Lauren

Hi margil, if your period starts in the evening, you should still mark that day as Day 1, rather than the next day.  Hope that helps :)

Hi Maria, we can clear all your data for you no problem.  Could you please confirm that you'd like me to clear out all your data by emailing us at feedback@kindara.com?  Once I have your confirmation, I'll get that done for you right away.  Thanks!

I'm new to the app haven't had a cycle in over a year so I don't know what my cycles are how can I change my cycle length

Hi Lumarla, I'm so sorry about the trouble with the app!  Are you using Kindara for Android by any chance?  It's possible this was a bug introduced by our recent Android update, and if so it should be fixed now if you update to the latest version.  If the app is still giving you trouble after updating, please let us know at feedback@kindara.com and we'll get back to you as soon as possible.

Hi Miss White, thanks for contacting us!  Do you mean change your average cycle length?  If so, here's how to do that: You can change your average cycle length during the first three cycles that you use Kindara by logging into the user web portal (http://app.kindara.com/) with the email and password you used to create your Kindara account, going to the 'Account' tab, and clicking the 'edit details' button at the bottom of the page. From there, you will be able to change your average cycle length. After you've entered at least three cycles with Kindara, the app will calculate your average cycle length based on the data you've entered, so it will be more accurate the more you use it.

If you'd like to change the length of a particular cycle, this will help:

By default, Kindara automatically starts a new cycle when you enter menstruation data for the first time as long as the current cycle is at least 10 days long. To change the start day of your cycle, navigate to the first day of the cycle you wish to merge with the previous one either by swiping to the left in the data screen or by tapping and holding on that day in the chart screen and selecting "edit." Then, tap the amount of menstruation you have entered (Light, Medium, Heavy) to deselect it. This should merge that cycle with the previous one.

Or, if you prefer, you can also manually set the start dates of your cycles. To do this, tap the More screen, then Settings, and find the row that says "Start New Cycles Manually." Slide the toggle to the right to turn it on.

If you turn this option on, you'll see a row under the menstruation section of the data screen that says "Start New Cycle Today?" Tap the check-box in this row and Kindara will set that day to Day 1 of your cycle. You can also tap the check-box again to remove it and continue charting in the previous cycle.

Let me know if you have any questions about this!

Hi I'm new to the app, I'm not sure how to start. I submitted the day of my period n I think it's on the automatic setting since it showed me my expected period for next month. Do I start charting whenever? I don't have a BBT Thermometer yet but I plan on buying one. Can I start as soon as I buy it or did I have to start today?

  • Avatar

Hi idk4561, thanks for contacting us!  You can start charting anytime :)  If you don't have your thermometer yet, you can get started by just charting your cervical fluid and adding your temperatures later.  I hope this helps!

Hi chocolatemama, I'm sorry that the method of changing start/end dates isn't clear! I'm happy to help you fix your data :)

I hope this helps! Feel free to let me know if you have any more questions or comments :)

I'm having an issue - I think I found a glitch? I am supposed to be on cycle 3, but my day 2 of cycle 3 turned into day 1 of cycle 4. I tried to manually remove my menstruation info to reset it as suggested, but it wouldn't save. So, I played around with other data entry info (I selected unprotected) which allowed me to save the removal of the menstruation data, and I was able deselect unprotected to get a completely empty cycle 4. But, that cursed Cycle 4 is still there! :) Now my data saves to both Cycle 3 and 4. I have been switching between auto cycle start and manual too, but that doesn't seem to help to remove voodoo cycle 4.

I'm having some problems with the app predicting my cycle length. From October 2014 - June 2015 my cycle varied between 25-65 days, I think because of a thyroid problem that has recently been diagnosed. Since July 2015 my cycle has been back to normal, ranging from 27-31 days. However the app continues to predict that my cycle will be 35 days (which is what it started doing when my cycle was unpredictable). Is there a way for me to manually fix this? Thank you!

Hi there! I charted using kindara for the first time today but was using a different app before and so retro - charted a couple of days. However, kindara marked those days as separate cycles so I now have 3 cycles over 3 days which is clearly not accurate. I changed the setting to manual but see no way to remedy this or delete the prior info to start fresh with kindara.

Hi Jonirph, I'm so sorry about that! This is a known bug that we're currently trying to fix, but in the meantime, logging out of the app and then back in again should fix it.  If the app is still giving you trouble after trying this, please let me know.

Hi Nicola, don't worry, it's totally normal to have erratic cycles for a few months after getting off the pill!  The first day of your next cycle should be marked when you see any RED-colored bleeding. So if you're only spotting, or if the discharge is not red, then you're still in your last cycle. I hope this helps!

Hi Margaret, I'm so sorry about that!  The app uses your past cycle averages to predict your future fertility, so if you've had some erratic cycles in the past they may be reflected in the predictions.  We can manually omit some of your cycles from the prediction for you if you'd like though! Please write in to support@kindara.com with the cycles you'd like me to exclude from the averages and I can do that for you right away.

Hi Dani, it sounds like you may have been affected by a bug we're currently working on fixing - could you please try logging out of the app and then logging back in?  If the app is still giving you trouble after trying this, let me know.

Is there a way to delete a chart? I started my first period after birth on 25th Feb, but put data in for January and I would like to delete the January chart. How can I do this?
